Current China tourism visa preparation guidance for Indian applicants, covering genuine travel plans, supporting evidence and the online submission process.
A tourist visa application should tell a credible, consistent story about a genuine leisure trip. The L category is intended for tourism. It is not a substitute for commercial work, study or a family-residence purpose, even when a traveller also plans to visit attractions.
Start with the real tourism plan
Before collecting documents, identify the intended dates, destinations, accommodation plan and who will pay. The application does not need decorative detail, but the facts should agree. If the actual purpose is visiting relatives, attending business meetings or beginning a course, verify the appropriate category instead of forcing the trip into L.

Prepare the common application documents
Current official guidance includes a valid passport with the required blank pages, passport-page copies, the online application material and a compliant photograph. Previous Chinese passports or visas, proof of lawful stay in India for non-Indian applicants, and additional identity records may apply according to the applicant's history.

Travel plan, accommodation and transport evidence
Official tourism checklists may request itinerary information, accommodation evidence, transport bookings or an invitation for tourism, depending on the applicable center and circumstances. Prepare only genuine evidence that reflects the intended trip.
- Dates should be possible within the proposed travel period.
- Cities and accommodation should align with the itinerary.
- Transport evidence should not contradict arrival or departure details.
- If another person supports the trip, funding and relationship evidence should be prepared according to the current checklist.
Do not create dummy hotel, flight or financial documents. Avoid making non-refundable commitments merely to strengthen an application. Confirm what evidence the official center accepts and use cancellable or otherwise financially sensible arrangements where possible.
Financial and applicant-specific evidence
Financial requirements are particularly freshness-sensitive and can differ by jurisdiction. For example, an Indian center may publish a center-specific balance notice. Check the current requirement for the center that handles the application rather than relying on an old amount quoted by an agent or previous applicant.
Employment, study, sponsorship, minor-applicant or non-Indian-resident circumstances can also change the supporting file. Include documents because they explain the applicant's circumstances or are requested—not because every tourist supposedly needs the same bundle.
Complete the current online process
The current process begins with the official online system: create or use the appropriate account, complete the form accurately and upload the requested material. Wait for the applicable online review instruction before taking or sending the passport and physical documents. An “online review completed” status allows the process to move forward; it is not confirmation that a visa will be issued.

Before submitting, compare the whole file
After issuance, compare the trip with the visa validity, entry count and permitted stay; these are separate travel limits.
- The selected category is tourism and the documents describe tourism.
- Passport identity data exactly matches the form.
- Dates and destinations agree across the form, itinerary and bookings.
- Accommodation and transport evidence is genuine and current.
- The current center-specific financial rule has been checked.
- The uploaded and physical photographs meet the current specification.
- No original will be dispatched until the requirement is confirmed.
