Check lawful status, residence, physical presence and centre acceptance before applying for a China visa in India with a non-Indian passport.

Holding a non-Indian passport does not by itself settle whether you can apply for a China visa in India. Check your lawful status in India, actual residence, physical location and the handling centre's acceptance rules before paying for preparation or sending a passport.

Four questions before starting

  1. Which passport will you use? Record its nationality and current identity details.
  2. What is your lawful status in India? Identify the current visa, residence, employment or study evidence that applies to you.
  3. Where do you actually reside? Determine which consular district and centre should review the application.
  4. Where will you be during submission? Do not assume someone in India can submit a file while you are abroad.

The Mumbai centre's published guidance addresses applicants of other nationalities with appropriate legal status and says it cannot accept an application when the applicant is not physically in India at submission. Treat this as a centre-specific acceptance reference and confirm your case with the appropriate centre.

Separate residence evidence from travel-purpose evidence

Evidence questionWhat it helps establish
Lawful stay or residence in IndiaWhether the application can be accepted through the selected Indian route.
Actual Indian residential addressThe jurisdiction question; it is not determined by a private agent's office.
Reason for visiting ChinaThe visa category and supporting invitation, itinerary or other purpose evidence.
Passport nationalityNationality-specific rules and applicable fees that need checking.

The Embassy's India application guidance includes lawful-stay/residence documentation for non-Indian citizens. That requirement should not be confused with proof of why you intend to travel to China.

If you are a visitor, your permission is expiring, or you have moved

Explain the situation to the handling centre before assuming eligibility. Ask what current status document is acceptable and whether the proposed submission can be accepted from your location. Keep the reply with your preparation notes. A private provider cannot extend Indian immigration permission or promise that a short stay in India makes every application acceptable.

If your passport, residence document and employment or student record show different addresses, identify which is current and what evidence explains the change. Do not silently select a convenient address to route the application elsewhere. The centre-selection guide explains this separate decision.

Check nationality-specific assumptions

Do not use an Indian-passport fee quote as your final budget. Likewise, a visa exemption available to one nationality is not a general exemption for residents of India. Ask about your actual passport and travel route; do not rely on another traveller's outcome. Read the fee-component guide before comparing private quotes.

Preparation after acceptance is clarified

Choose the relevant national service, such as business visa assistance or tourist visa assistance, and prepare the purpose-specific documents. Visa Expertz can review available records remotely, but acceptance and the visa decision remain with the official authorities.
