Build a consistent China travel itinerary, reconcile dates and accommodation, and handle changed plans without fabricating booking evidence.

A useful visa itinerary describes the trip you actually intend to make and agrees with the supporting evidence. It is not a sightseeing essay. Check the dates, overnight locations, accommodation and purpose of each part of the journey before submitting the file.

Make one working travel plan

Planning fieldCross-checkCommon problem to resolve
Arrival and departureForm, flight booking and invitation where relevant.A host letter covers different dates from the intended visit.
Overnight locationHotel reservation or genuine host arrangement.A night between cities is left unexplained.
Main activityTourism, meetings, exhibition, study or another actual purpose.A business visit is described as a holiday for convenience.
Travelling partyEach person's file and shared booking details.A child or colleague is missing from a relevant arrangement.

The Kolkata L-category guidance addresses itinerary evidence, including travel/accommodation records or a relevant invitation. The applicable centre and your case determine what must be supplied. The working plan below is a preparation method, not an extra official form.

An example of a consistency check

Suppose your intended stay moves from City A to City B halfway through the visit. A booking in City A for the entire trip would not explain the stay in City B. Check the real arrangements and correct the affected records or explanation; do not create a hotel reservation you do not intend to use just to fill a gap.

Use the same approach for a flight arriving after midnight: the arrival date, first overnight stay and booking dates should describe what will actually happen. A clear explanation is more useful than forcing all dates to appear identical.

Bookings are evidence, not a reason to take unnecessary financial risk

Before spending money, confirm the evidence required by the centre and understand the supplier's cancellation terms. Do not assume a visa will be issued by the departure date. A private adviser cannot guarantee a booking refund, and purchasing an expensive ticket does not secure approval.

Do not fabricate reservations, alter booking confirmations or hide cancelled arrangements. If an itinerary is provisional, describe its status honestly and ask what evidence is acceptable. Our hotel-versus-invitation guide addresses accommodation evidence separately.

When plans change during preparation

  1. Record which date, city, host or activity changed.
  2. Identify every affected item: form, invitation, accommodation or travel record.
  3. If the application is already submitted, ask the handling centre how the update should be communicated.
  4. Retain the genuine updated documents and the relevant instruction.

Do not edit an inviter's letter yourself. Request a replacement or clarification from the issuer. The form-consistency checklist helps trace changes across a file.

Match the itinerary to the service you need

Use tourist assistance for tourism and business assistance for commercial travel. For a trade event, the exhibition document guide covers the event evidence. The same destination can support very different purposes; the itinerary should not disguise the real one.
