Compare your China visa form with your passport and supporting documents, record discrepancies, and handle corrections without guessing or altering evidence.

A visa file can contain individually readable documents that still disagree with each other. An invitation might show an old passport number, a draft form may retain last year's employer, or a travel plan may use dates that the host has since changed. This guide is a working comparison exercise for those situations, rather than a second document checklist.

The New Delhi Visa Application Center's current notice asks for accurate, complete application information, applicant contact details and clear supporting copies. The table below is a practical preparation aid, not an official application form.

Before You Submit — Data Consistency Check

Information to compareCompare withResolve before submitting
Name, birth details and nationalityCurrent passport and any applicable identity-history evidenceSpelling, name order or an unexplained former name; do not silently rewrite an issued document.
Passport number, issue and expiry datesCurrent passport data pageOld booklet details carried into a saved draft or invitation.
Telephone and emailContact details the applicant actually usesTyping errors or another person's details entered as the applicant's own.
Purpose, dates and placesInvitation, admission or visit evidence and current travel planA genuine change in plans that has not reached every relevant document.
Inviter, employer or institutionDocuments from that organisationDifferent organisation names, contact details or an outdated role.
Relationship or previous travel, where requestedRelevant relationship records and available passport/visa historyGuessed dates, unsupported relationships or an incomplete answer.

Only compare fields that apply to your application. The table does not mean every applicant must submit employer, family and student documents together. Use the document checklist to identify the relevant evidence first.

Choose a source for each answer

Start with the actual document, not a remembered answer or a previous application copied wholesale. Keep the current passport beside the draft while checking identity fields. Ask the inviter or institution to confirm information they own. If an official document and a supporting letter disagree, establish which record needs correcting; making the form match the more convenient version does not resolve the underlying discrepancy.

For example, a new passport issued after an invitation was prepared creates a record-continuity question. Record both versions, ask the issuer whether a replacement invitation is needed, and obtain current submission guidance if the position remains unclear. Do not edit the issuer's PDF yourself.

Keep a short discrepancy log

A simple note with four columns is enough: field, conflicting sources, person responsible, and resolution. A useful entry might read “visit dates; invitation versus revised itinerary; host to confirm; awaiting replacement invitation.” Mark it resolved only when you have checked the final evidence and draft together.

Keep the version actually submitted separately from working drafts. This makes an official request for clarification easier to answer and reduces the chance of sending an obsolete attachment. A private document-review consultation can help spot inconsistencies, but the applicant still needs to verify the facts.

A typo, inaccurate information and a decision are different

A transposed digit may be a typo; a wrong employer or purpose may change the substance of the application. Describe the actual issue honestly rather than deciding that all differences are harmless clerical errors. Neither finding nor correcting a discrepancy predicts the visa decision.

If you have already submitted, do not assume the portal permits an unrestricted edit or create a duplicate application automatically. The Embassy's India visa FAQ directs modification questions to the Visa Center or consular contact. Explain what changed and ask which correction route applies at your stage.

For the complete submission sequence, use the application guide. For broader category, photograph and process problems, see common application mistakes.

Official information checked

For conflicts involving travel dates, overnight stays or revised bookings, the itinerary and booking checks show how to trace the same trip across the supporting records.

Official information checked on 23 September 2026; recheck current instructions before submitting.
